TechCrunch, among other news outlets, reports that Adobe is cutting 680 employees as part of a restructuring plan. This is roughly 9 percent of the company’s workforce. The news comes on the heels of Electronic Arts’ decision to layoff 1,500 workers and a reduction of 600 from Adobe back in December. Adobe had purchased Omniture in September and reduced its workforce by 9 percent at that time.
The cost of restructuring for Adobe will total between $65 and $71 million, the TechCrunch article says.
The layoffs come just after Adobe announced that Flash Professional CS5 will be able to turn Flash projects into iPhone apps. The company has also recently released a version of its Photoshop.com Mobile app for the iPhone [iTunes link].

When Electronic Arts announced that it was developing a mixed martial arts game, many fans were skeptical. After all, THQ had just released the very successful UFC Undisputed, and EA was attempting to compete with an unlicensed product. Things looked worse when UFC president Dana White threatened to blacklist any fighter who chose to appear in EA’s game. But now EA Sports MMA finally has some good news, as EA has revealed three fighters who will be appearing in the game.
To someone accustomed to writing reviews of video games, EA Sports Active presents a bit of a problem. Because, despite the fact that it’s made by Electronic Arts and is available exclusively on the Nintendo Wii, it’s really not a game. Instead, EA Sports Active is more of an interactive fitness DVD. The goal is to provide an intense and varied exercise routine for your living room, and in that respect the game is largely successful.
